Excavation — Cadoava, Utah

Why Cadoava for Excavation

Self-performed — your dirt is moved by our crews and our equipment, not handed to a third party.

GPS and grade-staked accuracy so your pads, slopes, and trenches match the civil plans the first time.

Experienced in Utah's tough conditions — rocky benches, high water tables, expansive clays, and tight infill lots.

Licensed (Utah E100 & B100) and insured, with a clean safety record and respect for active sites.

Our Process

1

Site review & staking

We walk the site, review civil and geotech plans, confirm utilities are located, and set grade references before a machine moves.

2

Clearing & stripping

Vegetation, debris, and topsoil are cleared and stockpiled or hauled off, with erosion controls placed per the SWPPP.

3

Mass excavation & cut/fill

We cut to subgrade, balance fill on-site where possible, and compact in lifts to engineered density.

4

Trenching & fine work

Utility trenches, footings, and detail excavation are dug to line and grade, shored and protected per OSHA.

5

Final grade & cleanup

We bring the site to subgrade tolerance, verify with survey, and leave it ready for the next trade.

What Affects the Cost

Every project is different. These are the biggest factors that move the price on excavation work — we'll walk you through yours in a free estimate.

  • Volume of material moved (cut/fill quantities) and how much can be balanced on-site versus hauled.
  • Soil and rock conditions — rippable dirt versus blasting or hammering rock changes everything.
  • Haul distance and dump/import fees if the site doesn't balance.
  • Access, shoring, dewatering, and how much the site must stay operational during work.
  • Erosion control, SWPPP, and permit requirements for the jurisdiction.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does excavation take?

A residential dig or driveway prep is often 1–3 days. A commercial pad or small development is typically 1–4 weeks depending on volume, rock, and weather. We give you a schedule with your estimate.

What permits are required for excavation in Utah?

Most cities require a grading/excavation permit, and sites over one acre of disturbance need a Utah DWQ stormwater (SWPPP) permit. Utility work needs Blue Stakes locates. We handle the locates and coordinate permits with your team.

Do you balance dirt on-site or haul it off?

Whenever the design allows, we balance cut and fill on-site to save you import/export trucking — it's usually the single biggest cost lever. When a site doesn't balance, we manage haul-off or import efficiently.

Can you work on tight or occupied sites?

Yes. We routinely phase work around active properties and tight infill lots, sizing equipment and sequencing to protect access, structures, and neighbors.
